I bought this for my husband for fathers day for he has always wanted one, It work and sounded great until we tried to put a CD in, the cd part would not play for anything all it would do is say _OPEN_ in the display screen, we did everything and it still would not work with a CD in… I think maybe the one I bought was just defected… I sent it back and refuse to buy another one at this time…

Stay away from this product! Like others, I had this unit for 5 months before the sound went out. I called Memorex support who told me to reset the unit by unplugging for 30 minutes. They said if that did not work, I should take it to a local electronics repair shop (we all know the economics of that). The warranty is only for 90 days and, from what I have experienced as well as other reviewers, that is how long the product is designed to last.

I first listened to this unit while shopping at Target. It sounded good and the appearance looked impressive. I noticed the price pegged at about $100. I thought maybe I’d wait till they put this on sale. Then I browsed Amazon and wow found the price $20 less. What a deal, and it’s shipped free to boot.
When I set it up at home, it delivered the same rich sound that I heard at the store. The controls take some getting used to, and I was hoping my Sanza MP3 player would work. It did not, but no big deal, I was able to hook it up as an auxiliary unit. The FM reception is great as well as the CD player. I did hear some distortion when the bass of the sound source is high. I’ve lived with this after making some adjusment with volume. Now I can listen to multiple hours of playtime by stringing several MP3 players.
I would highly recommend this unit.

I bought this for my 16 y/o son and he likes to fall asleep to quiet music. This Memorex has so much electronic noise at low levels that you can barely hear the music.
I’m returning it.
